The River of Peace

A 4-Week Therapeutic Pebble Art Journey

For Mothers & Children Ages 6–11

Join us for a gentle and creative 4-week therapeutic art experience designed to nurture emotional connection, mindfulness, creativity, and calm through pebble art, storytelling, colour, and ritual.

Held every Saturday for 1.5 hours, from 6th June to 27th June, this intimate series invites mothers and children to slow down together, connect through art, and create meaningful keepsakes to treasure.

Each week builds upon the last, allowing children to develop confidence, emotional expression, and a sense of peaceful connection through creative play and mindful art-making.

Week 1 — Painting a Keepsake Stone
“Beginning the Journey”

Children and mothers will be guided through our calming River of Peace meditation before selecting their special keepsake stones.

Using professional Posca paint markers, participants will explore mark-making, symbols, colours, and meaningful words to create a personal peace stone filled with intention and creativity.

Each child will begin creating their own “pocket sanctuary” — a comforting object they can return to whenever they need calm, reassurance, or grounding.

Week 2 — Story Stones & Peace Pebbles
“Creating Emotional Anchors”

This week deepens our mindfulness and storytelling practice through the creation of symbolic “Power Word” stones and story pebbles.

Children will paint meaningful symbols such as moons, hearts, stars, leaves, or animals onto their pebbles while exploring emotions, imagination, and positive affirmations.

These pebbles can later be used:

  • as calming tools

  • inside mindfulness baskets or calming jars

  • for storytelling and emotional expression

  • or carried in a pocket as a gentle emotional anchor

Week 3 — River of Peace Mandala Art
“Colour, Calm & Affirmations”

Using artist-quality Caran d’Ache pastels on premium watercolour paper, mothers and children will colour Hattie’s original River of Peace Mandala design.

Participants will explore colour as emotional expression while adding affirmations, wishes, and meaningful words within the pebble pathways of the mandala.

This session encourages calm focus, emotional reflection, and creative confidence while creating a beautiful keepsake artwork to take home.

Week 4 — Pebble Mandala & Finishing Ritual
“Wishes, Reflection & Celebration”

In our final session, participants will complete a therapeutic pebble mandala artwork designed by Hattie and printed on high-quality watercolour paper.

Through colour, symbols, drawing, and reflection, children will explore emotions, wishes, hopes, and personal meaning within their artwork.

We will close the 4-week journey with a gentle sharing circle and finishing ritual, celebrating each child’s creativity, confidence, and unique artistic voice.

Preserving the Magic -A Note on Varnishing

Because we use professional high-pigment Posca markers, your pebble artwork requires approximately 24 hours to fully cure before sealing.

Your take-home Sanctuary Finishing Kit allows you and your child to enjoy the final stage of the creative process together at home by applying a protective satin varnish to your pebbles the following day.

This helps preserve the colours beautifully while turning each piece into a lasting keepsake to treasure for years to come.

At The Angel Art Sanctuary, the tools we hold in our hands influence the peace we find in our hearts. Our sessions offer a deliberate escape from the world of plastic and "quick crafts," providing a premium environment where mothers and children can slow down, breathe, and create with the very best.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should my child wear?

While we provide garden gloves for planting flower seeds, we do work with professional-grade acrylic paint markers and oil pastels, which may stain once dry. We recommend wearing comfortable “art-friendly” clothes that you don’t mind getting a little creative character on.

Is this session suitable for all ages?

Our sessions are thoughtfully designed for children aged 6–11. This age range allows us to gently explore mindfulness, emotional expression, and creative techniques in a focused and supportive way.

To help maintain a calm and peaceful environment, we kindly ask that younger siblings do not attend these sessions.

Do I need to stay with my child?

Yes. These are collaborative sanctuary sessions created for mothers, carers, and children to connect through creativity and mindful art-making together.

It’s a rare opportunity to slow down, step away from the digital world, and create meaningful keepsakes side-by-side.

Are the materials safe?

Absolutely. Your child’s safety is always our priority.

All materials used within the sanctuary — including Posca paint markers and DecoArt sealants — are non-toxic, water-based, and conform to ASTM D-4236 and UK Toy Safety (EN71-3) standards.

What if my child “isn’t artistic”?

No artistic experience is needed at all.

These sessions are therapeutic, playful, and process-led rather than focused on perfection. There is no “right” or “wrong” way to create here
